It is a setup that provides end-to-end Concept imaging solutions and consultancy services. Clients also have the option to pick specific areas of the imaging process as required. The solutions and consultancy services provided are broken down to:

Jim Liaw is among the most established wedding photographers in the country, having scooped up various accolades with his spell bounding photography works. Having started his Photography career in the UK , Jim is a member of various esteemed international photography associations, among them the Master Photographer Association (UK), Weddings and Portrait Photographers International ( WPPI , USA ). Reefa began his career in the music industry over 12 years ago as a solo rap artist and was an instant hit with the Malaysian English music scene with his debut album “The key of R”. He is now a full-time resident radio DJ with popular English station Mix FM.

My kids always want to be like me as a photographer, sometimes my son will tag along during our shoot at wedding reception. My daughter feels jealous cause she can't 'shoot' together so I told her when you grow up, you can be a 'marketing manager', promote papa to clients. Then she ask," how & what I need to do?" I told her that you need to ask clients to visit our gallery & show them photos & she asked," How to ask clients come to our gallery?" & the idea came out, I shot this & show it to her, "this is how you get your clients back to our gallery".

Sometimes kids can give you brilliant ideas as well, haha.

My biggest challenge in this assignment-under water photography, cause I'm not a good swimmer :p

This is the 'masterpiece' display at the ballroom entrance, saw a guy saying that "this is 'photoshop', the photographer add in the bottom part", that's really broke my heart :( cause I'm not a 'photoshop fans' who like to do multiple layer & I always challenge myself in every assignment with 'in-camera effect'. This photo taken with 1 single click & protected with under water casing.

The whole session end 1am & is pretty cold at that time.

After 4 months of preparation with Alvin Leong & Peter Tan, together with Jack Tan & Braendan Yong, our dream have become reality.

On day 1 - Morning we kick start with Lito Sy masterclass @ The Professional Gallery, Solaris Mont Kiara, Lito is a nice guy with lots of fun, his talk is very entertaining, he also show us how he shoot & post procession work.

Evening will be WPPM opening night at Prince Hotel, organized by Canon (thanks to Canon Marketing), I met a lot of friends here, we have fashion show by Kris Wong, Thats Special Occasion & some presentation by Canon to introduced their photographers, is a function to met up with old & new friends.

On day 2 - talks by local great speakers (total of 20 speakers/4 platform), I also purchased a t-shirt titled 'WTF' from Fiona Lim. The highlight will be the photos competition judged by Jerry Ghionis, Lito Sy, Charlie Lim & Kris Wong, is an open judging, so everyone get to know what is the comments on every photos by the judges, follow by a dinner together with VIP guest + committee.

On day 3 - talks by 5 speakers (included me), Jim Liaw, Lito Sy, Charlie Lim & Jerry Ghionis, it was a big challenge for me to speak back to back with all this experience speakers.

During my talk, titled 'Conceptual Portraiture with Leica', I share my ideas, experience & concept that I've been created with Leica S2 + M8 previously. At the end of my talk, when I show a picture of my son & daughter that related to my topic- 'Connection', all a sudden, I feel so emotional because I miss them, it been almost 2 weeks I have never spend time with them, we use to go swimming/gym alternate day at the condo, Japanese food/steamboat/fast food on Friday & shopping on Sunday.

End of the day, we have closing night that organized by Leica at Delicious, Marc Resident (Thanks to Schmidt Marketing), cool ambient, nice food & beers, the best part was all 'competitors' gel together for 'yam seng' & take photos, it was the most wonderful moment I felt.

On day 4 - Jerry Ghionis masterclass @ The Professional Gallery Solaris Mont Kiara, we have 2 classes, 1st one is about live shoot, Jerry's experience & 2nd class is about business & posing, both are wonderful.

I wish everyone who attend this conference will benefit from here & hope to see you again.

Going Under Water.........@ Koh Samui

1st time shooting under water photos, it's FUN & pretty COLD too. We started shooting after dinner, really enjoy the whole session & never notice it's midnight already, the session end around 1am+.

Today may be a normal routine day for a lot of people but for me it is significant because today is also the anniversary of my beloved father who passed away 17 years ago. When he was alive, seeing his actions always touched me. He has a sincere heart to help people.Today, I am repaying my debt of gratitute by seeing his vision and would love to help all fellow photographers to grow. Today is also the day where Wedding and Portrait Photographers of Malaysia is born! In short, WPPM! WPPM is a professional organisation created to promote and to develop photographers who practice in the profession of photoraphy and to assist them to promote the interest and technical competence of such persons and to enhance their continuing professional development in exchanging views amongst its professional members within WPPM and the society.

After qualified as AMPA, UK recently, received another good news this afternoon while shooting Corrine & Michael's wedding at Cyberview Lodge. Alvin Leong & Jack Tan sms me saying that I'm the winner of Contemporary Wedding Category, MPA Singapore Prints competition 2009, my 19th international award winning photo since 2006.
My next year target will be become a FMPA, UK & win others association awards too :)

At first, I'm thinking of just delete & ignore it, after carefully reading those comments, I notice that all messages are like putting 'fire' between relationship with jealous, hates & desperate.I will like to share this with all my friends, it's about a photographer's blog (myself), 'what if someone don't like 'you or ???' I think this happen to lots of photographers out there too.

About Alvin Leong

With his relaxed manner and easy ways, Alvin stresses the importance of sitting down with every couple to discuss in detail their needs and to put any anxieties about the wedding shoot to rest. In his keenness to share the art of photography, Alvin has given talks on photography and techniques at various institutions of higher education and has provided practical training for students pursuing photography courses.

About Signature Photographers
Zung, Patrick Low, Jason Victor and David Chua began their wedding photography careers in Malaysia at a time when photographers were called “cameramen” and deliverables for a wedding photography shoot included 35mm negatives. A time when actual day photography was mostly covered on a part-time basis by photographers of local dailies and the approach to wedding photography was just that: “newspaper” type angles and compositions, hardly candid and rarely natural. There was little thought put into presentation and packaging, and almost no proper representation to lift the perception of the general public towards wedding photographers.Recognizing that there was much room for improvement, these 3 individuals (David Chua decided to pursue other ventures and subsequently left the group) got together and before long, they were having “the tarik” sessions for discussions into a common vision, a vision to set and gradually improve standards of the photographers within the group. A couple of years and a few hundred litres of the tarik later, Signature Photographers was formed in 2004. Various aspects of Wedding Photography were identified and deliberated over and through their discussions, sharing of knowledge and ideas, the vision of what remotely resembled a truly professional wedding photography outfit started to take shape.Along the way, more photographers who shared the same vision and passion surfaced and this resulted in four new additions to Signature Photographers in 2008. The new faces included the likes of Louis Pang, Jim Liaw, Jenny Sun and Edmund Tham, all accomplished (and award winning) photographers in their own right. I learn this technique since 15 years ago, during that time, I'm a huge fan of light painting, I use 'Hensel Light Brush' to creat this type of effects, the disadvantage is you need power support, so we can only use this in our studio, later on we try to use torch light for outdoor, but it's not easy during that time cause we are shooting with medium (120) or large (4x5) format with ASA100 films & tungsten filter for conversion to daylight, you need even longer exposure. But today it's no longer a nightmare, with the improvement on digital camera ISO, we can do this easily.
Believe me, it's gonna be a trend again.

A relatively newcomer in the industry, Edwin Tan has in a short time amassed an impressive portfolio. With two years experience in wedding photography, Edwin has amazed his clients with his ability to capture special moments with emotion, colour and soul. It all started while photographing his children as a hobby. Realising that he had talent for photography, he attended a workshop on wedding photography. The workshop had a profound effect on him, filling with him great inspiration and emotion. This was when he realised his calling to go out and capture those special moments that last a lifetime!

Edwin is blessed with an uncanny ability to anticipate and adapt to changing moments of a live shoot. His relaxed and easy-going nature puts couples at ease which enables them to fully express themselves. Edwin is unobtrusive and allows the events to unfold, as they should whilst surreptitiously injecting some of his own direction. With a storyline crafted in his mind, Edwin goes out to find the deeply emotional moments that reflect the story of the day. Being the perfectionist that he is, Edwin believes that every minor detail is important - loving glances, smiles and meaningful moments always captured and no tears left unseen.

Not one to be satisfied with his shots, Edwin always strives to do better in the next shot. Judge's Comments: 1. Usually we shoot the entrance to see the couple's faces but this is a good use of the long veil to capture the entrance from behind. Good thought process by the photographer.

Infra Red Photography-Part 3

Some photographers have ask me about this - "how you created this images?". Well, it's pretty simple, you just need to give up 1 digital camera & convert it into infra red camera :p
Of cause you can try with infra red film, but it's very hard to get now & you can't check the exposure & results immediately.
Some photographers try to use 'photoshop plug-in', that can be done too but I don't like to do that cause it's just like using a f4 lens & try to create a f1.4 effect, it's too artificial, professional photographers shouldn't rely on photoshop plug-in.
I do notice a few points when I'm shooting with infra red camera-
1. Better shoot with smaller apreture (prefer f11 or f16), to avoid soft edge.
2. Try not to shoot close-up on portraits, especially eyes looking at camera, you can see the eye balls look dark grey.
3. Results will be better if you shoot outdoor under a direct sunlight, but sometimes you need to under expose by at least 1 f.stop, to get the best details.
4. For outdoor sunny day shots, you will notice that the leafs-become white instead of dark grey tone & sky-clouds look better from normal camera.
5. You need to set at 'higher contrast' in your camera setting, cause the default setting is too soft.

I've been specialize in interior photography for more than 10 years cause I always love to look at designer's masterpiece. Photographing interior is a lot different with weddings, composition, shapes/forms & lighting control is very important. I use to shoot for interior designers who needs to summit their projects for competition, judges will score by looking at the photos, so they need pro to handle this & that's my responsible.

After a long holiday, it's time to update my blog.
This is one of the challenging series, Patricia & Calvin's wedding portraiture at Kellie's Castle & Ipoh.
Some of the shots, we applied infra red & light painting effects (I've been using these technique since 15 years ago in my commercial shoots), some of you might not heard about it before, if you are interested in light painting effect, I will talk about this topic more on my next update.
